DIY Paper Toss Bouqet

Last week we made a toss bouquet for Britany's Phantom of the Opera themed wedding! It turned out so cute we wanted to share it! We made these lovely paper roses from sheet music we downloaded and then coffee dyed. We used these great tutorials we found Here to dye the sheet music and the paper rose tutorial we found Here. We pretty much followed these tutorial to the letter the only thing we changed was adding a paper collar to the bouquet to hide the stems.
For the collar we drew a circle on light weight poster board just big enough to cover the underside of the bouquet. Then we found the center of the circle and cut a slit to that point. Then cut another circle  and put the stems though and over lapped the the ends of the slits until the poster board made a cone and fit snugly under the rose heads. Then we stapled the overlapped edges and together.
To cover the poster board we simply spray painted a coffee filter gold and fitted it over the cone poster board (the filter just happened to be the right size about an inch larger than the circle so it peaked out around the rose heads). The same way we fitted the cone on the bouquet only gluing the filter to the cone with white glue.

We think it turned out really cute and so did the bride to be!

DIY Pink Paper Peony Tutorial

For these paper flowers I dyed coffee filters with tropical punch and black cherry Kool-aid (the difference in shade is not noticeable). I added the Kool-aid and 1/4 cup vinegar to 1 quart water in a flat pan mixing until the Kool-aid dissolved. Depending on the shade of pink you want you can dip the filters in only part way and the tips of the petals will be darker pink and fade to white in the center or dip the all the way in and soak for a much darker pink. Also how many you dye stacked together will cause the filters in the middle to be a lighter pink. First, I tried dying each one separately, it took too long, but the colors of the filters were more uniform. (If that's what you want you should time how long you leave them in and use the same time for each filter.) I found I liked the less uniform colors and the flowers looked more natural. After the filters reached the color I wanted. I wrung the excess dye back into the container and placed the filters on a cooling rack set on   top of a cookie sheet. To speed up the drying process I heated my oven to 250 and put the filters in the oven Checking them every 5-10 min. until the filters were Dry. ( It's easier to separate the filters after they are dry.)

SUPPLIES

When I cut the petal shapes I stacked 4 filters together and folded into fourths. Then started my petals about an inch and a-half up from the point. You can leave the petals rounded at the tips like I did or make them jagged by unfolding the filters once and clipping small notches in them.
I unfolded the fillers and left them stacked together. Then took a pencil and rolled the ends of the petals around it and slightly push the edges of the petal together. Then I separated the filters and  re-stacked them so the petals overlapped the gaps.

For the center I folded two of the darkest filters together like the petals. I cut about and inch and a-half from the point jaggedly. Then I stacked these on top of the petals. From there I took a 4 inch piece of wire and put it through all ten layers about an 1/8 inch from the center then I put the other end through about a 1/4 inch from where I put the first end. Then pulled up and gently twisted each layer. After I had the flower the way I wanted it to look I twisted the wire together tightly and fluffed the petals.

Rustic Snowball Flower Arch

This is the time of year we usually would be getting decorations ready for Venture High Prom but Colton my youngest graduated  last year!!!  For the past couple of years we have been putting the over abundance of snowballs from my Mom's garden to good use at Venture's senior Prom. Well with With no Prom to decorate for and a ton of beautiful white flowers in her garden. My Mom asked me if I would like to try an idea I had last year and of course I couldn't say no to my Mother and Sierra couldn't say no to hers. It took us about 2 hours to put the arch together. We borrowed a couple of old garden pots from my Mom's patio and filled them with dirt. We cut 8 limbs off othe bushes we tried to keep them fairly log about 12 to 14 feet. We pushed the branches into the pot all the way to the bottom and wired them together Then we overlapped the branches and wired them together about a foot above the pot and again another foot up. In the center of the arch we wired touching branches together in several different places until it was strong enough to stand. Then we placed snowballs on the arch to fill in holes and hide wire.
It turned out lovely!

3 DIY Bridal Party Flowers with a Phantom of the Opera theme: #3 Bridesmaid Bouquets

Here's our 3rd installment on the bridal party flowers the bridesmaid bouquets!

Tools
wire cutter
scissors
Glue gun

Supplies
One large red rose stem
One small red rose bush 8 heads
One small black rose bush 8 heads
Floral tape
Sheer gold ribbon
Crystal headed corsage pins (cut to one inch)
glue sticks

We used this wonderful tutorial to get the round shape Here at http://www.bridecraft.com/rose-wedding-bouquets.html
To add our own twist to the bouquet we put the large red single stem rose in the middle and placed 3 black roses around it on the same level. We then taped the level together and placed a small red rose in between the black roses slightly lower and taped them to the first four. The next row we just alternated the black and red roses until we had a round shape. Next we added the black rose leaves from the black rose spray until you can no longer see the wire stems like this:

We wrap all the steams tightly together with the floral tape from top to bottom. Next we wrapped the stems with the gold ribbon from top to bottom then back up to the top. We then folded the cut end of the ribbon under and used one of the corsage pins to hold it in place. We put our bow just above the pin. Next we cut the corsage pins down to 1 inch with the wire cutters and hot glued them in the middle of the red roses.

Thank You, for checking out our tutorial!

Stop by again we will be posting the tutorial for our Pink Paper Peonies!!

3 DIY Bridal Party Flowers with a Phantom of the Opera theme: #2 Musical Note Boutonniere

Today we are continuing our wedding party flower tutorial series with our music note boutonnieres.
To make this simple boutonniere you need

Supplies and Tools

One silk rose bud
One silk rose leaf
Green floral tape
 Black ribbon
 12 gauge gold aluminum wire
 Hot glue
Scissors / Glue gun /Needle nose pliers

First trim the stem to about 2 inches  using the wire cutters or needle nose pliers.

Trim any extra leaves off leaving the largest leaf at the top of the stem.

So it looks like this.

Next wrap the stem of the leaf to the stem of the rose so rosebud sits against the widest part of the leaf.
Start wrapping under the rose head pulling lightly so the tape stretches a little wrap down the steam and back up under the rose and tear.

Next wrap the stem with the ribbon start at the bottom glue and wrap over the cut edge and up the stem. Cut the ribbon fold the cut under and glue. Then  glue the ribbon to stem.

To make the music note use your fingers to form the head and stem of the note. Start with the center of the head this will hold the note to the rose.

At the top of the stem use a pair of needle nose pliers (tape the tip of the pliers to prevent them from leaving grooves in the soft wire) to make a small loop to start the flag. After you have made the first loop measure how much wire you need to finish the flag on the note and cut off the excess wire. At the end of the flag make another small loop with the pliers and shape the flag. You can use a template to help get the size and shape you like just shape the note over it and make sure you have a large loop in the middle of the note head.

Next bend the loop in the center of the note head so you can slide the rose stem into it. If the loop is to big just squeeze the loop until it stays where you want it.

And your done!
Hope you enjoyed our Music Note Boutonniere tutorial! If you make one of your own leave us a picture or let us know how it turned out!

Red and Pink, Rose Petal Wedding Aisle Runner!!

Today we are going to share the aisle runner we made for Chris and Jerina's red pink and black wedding!!

What you need for this wedding aisle runner.
30" X 25' plain aisle runner or tulle fabric. (We used a plain white aisle runner bought from Walmart)
Silk rose petals 7 red 8 pink 300ct. package (we bought ours at the dollars store.)
1 can of krylon spray adhesive (bought at Michaels)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks.
Optional: 3' curtain rod or dowl.
5'6" ribbon any width.

Work in 2' sections spray  fabric with adhesive. Press petals on to fabric allowing them to over lap covering the fabric. Use one color for the first 4 feet then start adding the 2nd color. We did the first four feet on both sides first and filled in the middle. Loose petals and petals that were overlapping several others were hot glued in place.
When you have finished gluing the petals on. Roll the curtain rod or dowl up in the aisle runnerpetals on the inside.
Tie a slip knot on both ends of the ribbon. Slip ribbon on either side of the curtain rod and tighten just enough for it to glide when it is rolled out.

3 DIY Bridal Party Flowers with a Phantom of the Opera theme: #1 The Bridal Bouquet

Masquerade Wedding Bouquet

Welcome to our blog we are so happy you found us. This is our first post so I thought we would introduce ourselves. My name is Naomi Letcher and my daughter and partner in craft is Sierra. Together we make up Enchanting Event Design llc. Here on our blog we will share our adventures in the wonderful world of weddings and how we DIY our way though it.
Now as the title promised here here is our 1st of 3 bridal party flowers from the wedding we are currently working on with a fantastic Phantom of the Opera theme. Britaney (the bride) chose a classic, round, hand-tied, bouquet.

What you will need

8 large half open red silk roses
5 large slightly wilted, dark red cabbage roses
8 large black rose buds (we used open roses and took off the two outer rows of petals)
Floral tape to match stems
Gold trim or cording
Gold mask
1” wide double faced black satin ribbon
Gold wire

Tools

Wire cutters
Scissors

The black roses had black stems so we switched them out with the excess we cut off the red roses. We trimmed the black stems to about 2 inches using floral tape we wrapped the two stems together. Starting under the rose head down to just below the black stem and back up to the rose. We did this to keep a more uniform and natural look of a hand tied bouquet.
You can find the tutorial we used to make the shape of the bouquet Here.  (http://www.bridecraft.com/rose-wedding-bouquets)

To accent the roses we cut the corsage pins to about 1” and hot glued them into the center of the red roses so they sit just above the inside petals.
The mask we placed off to the side and wired it to the bouquet though the holes on each side of the mask and attached it under the head of a rose underneath the holes. Then we attached the trim to one side of the mask and looped it around the top of the bouquet and glued under one or to of the  petals to help keep it in place then attached to the other side of the mask. Our bride loved the way it came together and so did we! Hope you enjoyed our first post. Come back next week and we will show you how we made the boutonnieres for the groomsmen! We will have step by step pictures for these.
