Part 2 Wedding Recption Masquerade (Phantom of the Opera theme)

Pomanders

The pomanders for the table scapes consists of softball size wiffle balls, Hiawatha moss, 35 silk rose heads and a lot of hot glue.
We first glued the moss over the entire ball. Then we glued the roses over the moss. Leaving a open spot to attach the ball to the candlestick. To prevent the ball from falling off the candlestick. We glued a rolled up piece of card stock inside one of the holes of the wiffle ball then we glued the rolled up piece of card stock inside the candle cup.

Candle sticks

We didn't have enough pillar candle sticks, so are inexpensive fix was gluing canning lids to the top of taper candlesticks. To give the candlesticks a heavier look we glued the canning rings to the lids and covered the rings with black ribbon.

Runners
For the rose petal table runner we used this tutorial Here and simply added more petals to make it wider.
All candles we used were electric. We bought them after Christmas very inexpensive.

Card Cage
For the card cage  we simply spray painted an old decorative birdcage gold and glued black ribbon around the cage. We used to same Christmas ornaments masks we had used for the aisle  markers. We painted the masks and silk roses with gold spray paint. (We did take  the roses apart and paint each layer of petals after they were dry we reassemble them.) Then we tied and gold wired ribbon into a bow on the ring on top of the cage and glued the painted roses and leaves  underneath the bow  the gold birds were clipped on either side of the bow to the leaves. For the bottom of the cage we cut out a circle of black card stock slightly smaller than the cage. We centered gold sticker letters to spell out the word "cards" to the card stock. Then centered the card stock circle and glued it to the bottom of the cage.  For a more personal touch we put their names on the black ribbon next to the mask. To make it easy we printed out their names in a pretty font put a piece of wax paper between a piece of satin tape and the paper and traced over it with a gold paint marker. We removed the tape and put it on the ribbon.

Hope you are enjoying this series we are almost done with it our next post will be on the Candelabras and Newel Post decorations DIY

Wedding Reception Masquerade (Phantom of the Opera theme)

View of the backdrop

We finally edited the pictures from Britney's Wedding. I really loved the way the decorations came together with their venue Chantilly Mansion in Layton, Utah. Wish we could have decorated more but we had very limited set up time. Almost everything had to be made before hand and just set in place.  Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed putting it all together.

The guest book table .

For the guest book table we used a
a matching guestbook & pen set we picked up for less then 5 dollars at Hobby Lobby on clearance . We just added glitter, sticker, letters for their names and music notes for decoration. Our candelabra was once a lamp we bought at a yard sale for $3 dollars. We removed all of the wiring and some hardware replaced the white tubing ( faux candles) with candle cups then we use battery operated candles. The pomander is made up of 35 dollar store roses (6-7 per bush) a softball size wiffle ball we covered in moss and a lot of hot glue. The little gold turtle doves are Christmas ornaments bought after Christmas we clipped to the flower petals on top of the pomander.

Turtle doves

Chair sashes
For the sashes we used wired ribbon and music note pins. The pins were handmade by us, from corn starch & baking soda clay recipe we found here.

Aisle markers

Aisle Markers were Christmas ornaments we picked up for 10 cents each after Christmas. We spray painted them to gold and hand painted the jewels with a high gloss black to match the brides colors.

Next week we will be posting the DIY's and pictures for the Card Cage and Table Scape's

3 DIY Bridal Party Flowers with a Phantom of the Opera theme: #3 Bridesmaid Bouquets

Here's our 3rd installment on the bridal party flowers the bridesmaid bouquets!

Tools
wire cutter
scissors
Glue gun

Supplies
One large red rose stem
One small red rose bush 8 heads
One small black rose bush 8 heads
Floral tape
Sheer gold ribbon
Crystal headed corsage pins (cut to one inch)
glue sticks

We used this wonderful tutorial to get the round shape Here at http://www.bridecraft.com/rose-wedding-bouquets.html
To add our own twist to the bouquet we put the large red single stem rose in the middle and placed 3 black roses around it on the same level. We then taped the level together and placed a small red rose in between the black roses slightly lower and taped them to the first four. The next row we just alternated the black and red roses until we had a round shape. Next we added the black rose leaves from the black rose spray until you can no longer see the wire stems like this:

We wrap all the steams tightly together with the floral tape from top to bottom. Next we wrapped the stems with the gold ribbon from top to bottom then back up to the top. We then folded the cut end of the ribbon under and used one of the corsage pins to hold it in place. We put our bow just above the pin. Next we cut the corsage pins down to 1 inch with the wire cutters and hot glued them in the middle of the red roses.

Thank You, for checking out our tutorial!

Stop by again we will be posting the tutorial for our Pink Paper Peonies!!

3 DIY Bridal Party Flowers with a Phantom of the Opera theme: #2 Musical Note Boutonniere

Today we are continuing our wedding party flower tutorial series with our music note boutonnieres.
To make this simple boutonniere you need

Supplies and Tools

One silk rose bud
One silk rose leaf
Green floral tape
 Black ribbon
 12 gauge gold aluminum wire
 Hot glue
Scissors / Glue gun /Needle nose pliers

First trim the stem to about 2 inches  using the wire cutters or needle nose pliers.

Trim any extra leaves off leaving the largest leaf at the top of the stem.

So it looks like this.

Next wrap the stem of the leaf to the stem of the rose so rosebud sits against the widest part of the leaf.
Start wrapping under the rose head pulling lightly so the tape stretches a little wrap down the steam and back up under the rose and tear.

Next wrap the stem with the ribbon start at the bottom glue and wrap over the cut edge and up the stem. Cut the ribbon fold the cut under and glue. Then  glue the ribbon to stem.

To make the music note use your fingers to form the head and stem of the note. Start with the center of the head this will hold the note to the rose.

At the top of the stem use a pair of needle nose pliers (tape the tip of the pliers to prevent them from leaving grooves in the soft wire) to make a small loop to start the flag. After you have made the first loop measure how much wire you need to finish the flag on the note and cut off the excess wire. At the end of the flag make another small loop with the pliers and shape the flag. You can use a template to help get the size and shape you like just shape the note over it and make sure you have a large loop in the middle of the note head.

Next bend the loop in the center of the note head so you can slide the rose stem into it. If the loop is to big just squeeze the loop until it stays where you want it.

And your done!
Hope you enjoyed our Music Note Boutonniere tutorial! If you make one of your own leave us a picture or let us know how it turned out!

3 DIY Bridal Party Flowers with a Phantom of the Opera theme: #1 The Bridal Bouquet

Masquerade Wedding Bouquet

Welcome to our blog we are so happy you found us. This is our first post so I thought we would introduce ourselves. My name is Naomi Letcher and my daughter and partner in craft is Sierra. Together we make up Enchanting Event Design llc. Here on our blog we will share our adventures in the wonderful world of weddings and how we DIY our way though it.
Now as the title promised here here is our 1st of 3 bridal party flowers from the wedding we are currently working on with a fantastic Phantom of the Opera theme. Britaney (the bride) chose a classic, round, hand-tied, bouquet.

What you will need

8 large half open red silk roses
5 large slightly wilted, dark red cabbage roses
8 large black rose buds (we used open roses and took off the two outer rows of petals)
Floral tape to match stems
Gold trim or cording
Gold mask
1” wide double faced black satin ribbon
Gold wire

Tools

Wire cutters
Scissors

The black roses had black stems so we switched them out with the excess we cut off the red roses. We trimmed the black stems to about 2 inches using floral tape we wrapped the two stems together. Starting under the rose head down to just below the black stem and back up to the rose. We did this to keep a more uniform and natural look of a hand tied bouquet.
You can find the tutorial we used to make the shape of the bouquet Here.  (http://www.bridecraft.com/rose-wedding-bouquets)

To accent the roses we cut the corsage pins to about 1” and hot glued them into the center of the red roses so they sit just above the inside petals.
The mask we placed off to the side and wired it to the bouquet though the holes on each side of the mask and attached it under the head of a rose underneath the holes. Then we attached the trim to one side of the mask and looped it around the top of the bouquet and glued under one or to of the  petals to help keep it in place then attached to the other side of the mask. Our bride loved the way it came together and so did we! Hope you enjoyed our first post. Come back next week and we will show you how we made the boutonnieres for the groomsmen! We will have step by step pictures for these.

Let us know what you thought in our comments we would love to hear from you!
